Lacey Brown Hairstyle

Credit: Michael Becker/FOX

Lacey Brown, I love the look, soulfoul voice, she's cute and I love her hair too.
Her rendition of "What a Wonderful World" from Hollywood round was great and very endearing and what a great attitude about not getting through last year. I really liked Megan Joy (who got thru instead of her) but Megan didn't quite deliver although she was good. I'm glad Lacey was given another chance this week. Some people say her hairstyle is called "The Suspicious Duchess".

How to Look Great in your Wedding Photos!

by Martin

As a top wedding photographer with Butterfly Photography (www.butterflyphotography.ca) in Vancouver, BC, I always get asked by my clients about what they can do on their part to ensure they have beautiful wedding photos. Here's a bunch of tips I always share with them.

Selecting photo shoot location.

1. In a typical wedding, the formals and creative portraits are taken in the few hours between the end of the ceremony and start of the reception. Therefore, you want make the most of the time you have with your photographer for your creative portraits. To ensure you get the pictures you want, scope out some locations before you even meet your photographer. Have an idea of what theme you would like your photos to have (i.e. urban setting or natural setting) and specific locations you would like to go to. Remember to provide this information to your photographer.

2. If possible, try choosing a location that has meaning to you and your partner. Locations where you first met, shared your first kiss, had first date, or had your proposal are ideal! Shooting at these locations will bring out so much more emotion when looking at your images.

3. If schedule is important, choose a location that is within 15 minutes driving time of your ceremony site and reception site. Remember, excessive driving time will cut into photo time.

4. When selecting the location, remember to account for the time it takes to park your vehicle and also walking (in heels) to the scenic location. There is nothing worse than having to cut locations for your wedding photos or be over an hour late for your reception because of scheduling issues. Selecting a photographer.

1. Besides budget, the most important thing is personality. Choose a photographer that you can connect with and have a good laugh! There is nothing worse than having a photographer where you personalities do not mesh well. This could lead to awkwardness during the photo shoot and images where the facial expression is not natural or uncomfortable.

Preparations for wedding.

1. Sleep: Get enough sleep (8 hours minimum) the night before your wedding to avoid tired eyes in your wedding photos.

2. Hair: Do not use any shimmery or glittery hair gel / spray because sparkles catching the light turn white in photos and end up looking like dandruff in your hair.

3. Makeup: A professionally trained makeup artist should know this, but everyday "day" makeup application is not the same as application for photography or glamour. So if you are doing your own make up, please add some dimension to your face by using blush, bronzer, and highlight powder -- there are some "how to" guides on the Internet to help you achieve this. Or you can also head to your local MAC where the staff there will show you how and where to apply these items, and what is suitable for your bone structure. Please practice a few times with the entire make up ensemble before your wedding day.

4. Facials: A lot of brides like to get treatment for their skin for their wedding. If you getting a facial, make sure to schedule your spa session at least 2 weeks before the wedding. That way if anything goes wrong (allergies or over exfoliation), your skin will have time to heal back to normal before the wedding day.

5. Dress: A bustle is very handy. Make sure to have a bustle installed and/or a loop sewn inside for you to hold up the dress train with your hand. Sometimes bridesmaids forget to do their "duty".

6. Tide Pen: This handy little pen can remove stains which are bound to happen on a white dress. Make sure to follow the tide pen's instructions and test the tide pen in an inconspicuous location of your dress before you use it.

7. Food & Water: Things tend to get very busy during the wedding, and before you know it, you may have skipped breakfast or lunch. Have snacks and water handy to keep hydrated and your energy levels up so you can enjoy your day!

The wedding day. 1. Perfume/deodorant: Always apply these items prior to putting on the dress as it may stain your dress.

2. Walking down the aisle: Remember to walk down the aisle one at a time. Walk slowly so your photographer can take multiple photos in case you blink. During the walk, look at your guests, look at the groom, enjoy your day, and avoid looking at the camera or the floor.

3. Have fun, relax and enjoy your day! Take time for each other and think about your day.

The Emo Subculture

Emo, is a term which is given to the subculture of hardcore punk and pop, which originated from the Washington DC area, but which later spread like wildfire to the rest of the US and also to other parts of the world. Emo has since evolved into a musical and fashion experience which is embraced by quite a number of young adherents.

The word “Emo” actually originated from the term "emocore" which refers to the hardcore punk music scene which started in the mid-1980s. The term is a variation of the word "emotive hardcore", which is what the bands in the DC area sounded like. They have developed a unique punk-rock style of music, which blended the characteristics of the electric guitar with smooth sounded mellow tracks, which are typically screamed from the top of the lungs, hence the term emotive hardcore. Amongst the bands which pioneered this genre were groups such as One Last Wish, Embrace, Fire Party and Moss Icon.

The Emo subculture is also heavily influenced by the Indie scene, with the likes of people such as Fugazi heading off the first wave of Emo, with bands which included Far and Texas Is The Reason, which pumped Indie music into the Emo subculture.

The sound feels more like a chaotic blend of instruments laced with emotional singing which emanates deep inside the lungs. This attracts crowds of young people. Their chants and raves have become characteristic as far as Emo concerts are concerned. These concerts have in turn become some of the most vibrant in the entire rock industry.

The Emo culture is not all about music however. There are fashion statements and stereotypes associated with the Emo subculture which spread to other facets of culture. Black is considered the color of choice in the Emo universe and it permeates almost all aspects of the Emo dress code. The hair is typically dyed jet-black, and in some instances it is spiked and can contain other colors as well. For the ladies, black nail polish is also widely used. In the Emo world, make-up is utilized by both males and females.

There is now a wide range of products which cater to the needs of the Emo subculture. Cities such as Austin have fully embraced it and have great places which have an Emo theme such as restaurants, record stores and other joints. It is now common to even see special clothing lines, merchandise, toys and even TV programs and movies. Today, the Emo subculture has caught influences from both pop and rock and is beginning to be accepted as a lifestyle choice.

The 10 Simple Steps To Amazing Wedding Hair (II)

by Sarah James

If the wedding is traditional in style and the dress mirrors this distinction, it would not be appropriate to have a whimsical messy bun as it would look out of place with the rest of the plans.

The same can be said if a bride has chosen a beach wedding with a low key dress, and then decides to ask the stylist to give her a tight updo that looks like it belongs in a ballroom far far away.

It's always worth spending a bit of money in advance so that you get a strong cut that compliments your features because it will mean that your hair will need far less styling when your big day finally arrives.

Saving money by not going this route will only end up sacrificing the ability to have the hair as perfect as it otherwise would have been.

Make sure you wear a button down shirt when getting the hair done before the big occasion. It is ironic that something so simple could make or break a smooth transition for flawless wedding hair, but it is one hundred percent accurate.

If the hair is ready to go and is exactly as it should be, pulling a shirt up and over the head can pull pins out, cause hair to frizz, and curls to loosen.

If a bride is going to remove her veil, tiara, or wedding jewelry after the ceremony, plan ahead of time to make adjustments to the style so that when the accessory is removed, the second half of the day and evening isn't spent with a lovely hairdo that becomes a disaster.

Last but not least, bring the veil, tiara, or hair jewelry to the hairdresser from the very beginning.

It is important that the hair and the things that will go in it are all at the same place at the same time in order ensure that the styles will be a strong mixture of the image that's desired.

Hair styles can change in an instant due to the invention of clip on extensions and the like, but if a bride wants to have truly unforgettable wedding hair, she will heed the advice of those that came before her, and use their knowledge to assure success.
